Happy St. Patty’s Day!
I remember when I taught in an elementary school and we made green eggs and ham for Dr. Seuss Day! But I think it’s also fitting for St. Patty’s Day
.
Shari at Fit Feat is celebrating with her favorite Green Smoothie. Do you celebrate St. Patty’s Day?
Yesterday I went to the Y and did some lifting. I haven’t lifted actual weights in several weeks. I have been running and doing my TRX workouts (which I love). But it was nice to get back to lifting some weights. Here is what I did:
- 2 sets of 12 reps
- Hammer Curls
- DB Row
- Incline Curls
- 2 sets of 10 reps
- DB Squats
- Lunges
- Deadlifts
- Bosu Ball Planks (3 sets of 45 sec)
- Cable Woodchops (3 sets of 20 reps, each side)
Now it’s time for Runner’s World weight loss myth #7!
7) Myth #7: Eating At Night Causes Weight Gain. Have you heard that before? Been told not to eat after 5 pm, 6pm, or 7pm? Or no starchy carbs after 5pm? I think I’ve heard all of those.
Truth: Runner’s World states that a calorie is a calorie. And once again………”As long as you don’t take in more calories than you burn in a day, you won’t gain weight.” Overeating at 10pm is not any worse than overeating at 10am! Some runners do their running in the afternoon or evening. If you train in the afternoon or evening, you need to eat a balanced meal afterward to help your body recover. Now, this does not mean that you should head to the kitchen to eat a bag of Dorritos, leftover pizza, or a pint of ice cream at 11pm.
If you are hungry or want an evening snack, what do you eat? Do you find that you like to snack in the evening?
Time to get back to work! Have a great day everyone
My biggest snacking problems are at night but my new fave thing is sugar free vanilla pudding. Also making a green monster at night fills me up so I don’t want to snack more.
I don’t celebrate St. Patty’s day per say, but as a teacher, we do wear green to school! There’s not much that goes on around here for St. Patty’s day.
I try not to snack to much in the evening. If I do feel hungry, I wll usually grab a piece of fruit.
i normally am not a snacker in the evenings…..
no celebrating but i must wear green something today or the kids will be crazy!
have a good day
Oh yes, I remember when I taught in a school and had to wear green on St. Patty’s Day!
Love green eggs and ham! I wanted to make that for breakfast, but made Irish Soda Bread instead!
And I eat a lot at night. I’m proof that you don’t gain weight because of the time of day you eat. It really is just about not eating too much overall! THanks for debunking that myth!
I teach online for a virtual school. One of my 3rd grade students told me his mom made him green eggs and ham…..and he also drank green milk! How cute?!
I am definitely a night time snacker, so I try to plan it into my day! I usually go for popcorn or “fake ice cream” (I put a carton of greek yogurt in the freezer for a couple of hours).
I usually snack on fruit, oranges, frozen grapes, etc. I try not to eat after 7 PM, but sometimes need a snack after a late, intense workout.
Oh, I love frozen grapes!!
I wore my green to school today. It was cool because the kids noticed and say, “You have green on.”
I love food and I eat at night. I try to stay with fruits and maybe some yogurt with a drizzle of honey. Sometimes I stray, and will get one scoop of frozen yogurt or ice cream. I think I am pretty good about that – once I have my scoop, I’ll stop.
I do get kind of snacky in the evening sometimes and my current favorite thing is frozen banana pieces!! I always have cut up bananas in my freezer for smoothies and recently started popping them in my mouth when I want a snack. It takes care of my sweet tooth and no harm done.
Have a great day!!
Green eggs and ham are fitting for St. Patty’s day! I do snack at night. Usually, I have something sweet.
I usually wear green on St Patty’s day, I don’t usually celebrate, but I have been known to throw back a green beer every now and then!
I snack at night, especially after a run. I usually like my bananas or I’ll have a bowl of cereal. Sometimes, I dig in the chip bag…BAD!
I run late so I end up eating late too. So, yes, I am going to bed with a full tummy but I’m also not getting the late night munchies.
Favorite meal after a run: chicken or pasta. Yum!
where have you been girl? miss seeign your posts!
